Spirits From the Past: Folklore, Legends & Historic Figures

Michael Francis Barry is a Maine native and graduated from the former Fox School of Photography in Portland, Maine. He is the resident Artist at the Portland Head Light, one of the most famous lighthouses in North America. Michael has specialized in Night and Time Exposure Photography since 1984. He is internationally renowned for his Maritime Photography. Michael creates his own Set Designs, Period Costumes and also uses props on location to best illustrate his unique Fine Art Images. He authors his stories and poems based upon actual events and folklore accounts passed down through time. Michael also handmade his own Large Format 8 x 10 Camera, pictured above. All of his images are created using light sensitive 8” x 10” Photographic Film. The “Spirits From The Past” series are all done on location and are historically accurate to the time period illustrated. No Photoshop computerized techniques are used in the overall creation of these images.
